Week 1: Colors of Mexico
A celebration of Mexico’s art, food, and music — from papel picado to mariachi. Campers explore color, creativity, and cultural pride. Colores symbolizes creativity, art, and the diversity of our cultures and people. From the bright markets of Oaxaca to the golden deserts of the north and the turquoise shores of the Yucatán, Mexico is a land painted in color and tradition. This week, campers celebrate the colores that make Mexico shine — through art, music, dance, and storytelling that reflect its Indigenous, African, and Spanish influences. Children create papel picado, learn folk dances from different regions, and explore how color tells the story of culture — in murals, embroidery, and even in the food that fills the table. Along the way, they’ll pick up new Spanish words, rhythms, and inspiration from Mexico’s deep cultural mosaic. At ¡Viva Verano!, Colores de México reminds us that every shade has a story — and together, they create something beautiful.

Jun 22 - Jun 26
Week 2: Northern Central America
Roots of Northern Central America - Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador. Explore the heritage, storytelling, and ancestral voices from the northern reaches of Central America, the roots of Maya civilization intertwine with the living rhythms of Garífuna and Afro-Indigenous cultures. Campers explore the deep connections between language, land, and identity — from the temples of Tikal to the coastal drums of Belize. Through storytelling, weaving, drumming, and traditional crafts, children uncover how resilience and creativity have flourished for generations. They’ll learn words from ancestral languages, explore sacred plants like cacao and maize, and see how shared traditions keep communities strong and united. At ¡Viva Verano!, this week honors ancestry, heritage, and the voices that continue to guide us forward.

Jun 29 - Jul 3
Caribbean Islands:
Discover the rhythms and flavors of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Music, dance, and tropical art take center stage. Ritmos celebrates movement, joy, and the power of music to connect hearts across the sea. This week, campers feel the beat of the Caribbean — from the vibrant sounds of Hispaniola, Cuba, and Puerto Rico to the coastal rhythms of Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. They’ll explore how African, Indigenous, and European traditions blend to create music full of life and soul. Children move to merengue, salsa, and bomba, create art inspired by island life, and explore the stories carried in every rhythm. Through dance and song, they learn Spanish vocabulary and the joy of expressing themselves freely. At ¡Viva Verano!, Caribe Vivo reminds us that the rhythms of the islands flow within us — carrying the heartbeat of Africa, the warmth of the sun, and the joy of a people who dance through history with pride and strength.

In the lush south of Central America, roots grow through rainforest canopies, volcanoes, and coastal waters alive with biodiversity and music. From the colorful masks of Nicaragua to the Afro-Caribbean beats of Limón and the Emberá artistry of Panama, campers celebrate the vibrant cultures that connect people and nature. Children will explore ecology and art together — crafting rainforest creatures, learning folk dances, and tasting tropical fruits while discovering how traditions and the environment shape identity. At ¡Viva Verano!, Raíces del Sur celebrates the beauty of connection — showing how language, land, and culture blossom together like the forests of the south.

Journey through the Andes — Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Paraguay — exploring indigenous languages, landscapes, and legends. Alma represents the heart and spirit that flow through the mountains, connecting people, art, and nature in harmony. High in the Andes, music, art, and storytelling come together like mountain winds. This week, campers explore the alma — the soul — of Andean South America through Quechua- and Aymara-inspired rhythms and the stories of people who live in balance with the land across Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador. Children weave colorful textiles, play the zampoña and charango, and discover how values like ayni — community and reciprocity — connect people to one another and to the earth. They’ll explore how Andean traditions inspire art, music, and language that carry deep respect for nature and ancestry. At ¡Viva Verano!, Alma de los Andes reminds us that when we create together, we honor the spirit of those who came before us — and the beauty that continues to grow from the mountains to the heart.

Language
Spanish Language Learning
Spanish isn’t just heard — it’s intentionally taught. Our bilingual and immersion-based program is designed to strengthen each child’s Spanish proficiency through purposeful instruction, meaningful practice, and joyful interaction. Every activity—from art and music to games and storytelling—is guided by bilingual educators who provide the structure, repetition, and encouragement children need to grow in confidence and fluency.

Heritage Exposure
For children who hear Spanish at home but don’t yet use it confidently, ¡Viva Verano! bridges the gap between understanding and expression. Through daily conversation, storytelling, music, and games, campers strengthen comprehension and speaking skills while reconnecting with the pride of their cultural roots. Our bilingual educators create a safe, encouraging space where making mistakes is part of learning—and where identity and language grow together.

New Learners
For children beginning their Spanish journey at school or through apps, ¡Viva Verano! builds a true foundation for bilingualism. Our immersive approach combines structured repetition, movement-based learning, and visual cues so that vocabulary and phrases stick naturally. Campers practice listening and speaking through guided play, songs, and small-group interaction—gaining confidence to communicate in real-world situations. Over time, they don’t just “pick up words”—they begin thinking and responding in Spanish, developing the cognitive and social benefits of becoming bilingual.

Confident Speakers
For fluent or near-fluent children, ¡Viva Verano! is a space for academic enrichment and linguistic mastery, not just leadership. Campers expand beyond oral fluency into reading, writing, and advanced expression—building bilingual literacy through creative storytelling, journaling, cultural research, and project-based learning. They explore grammar and structure in ways that feel relevant and empowering, preparing them to thrive in bilingual classrooms and future academic settings. These campers also practice language leadership, not as tutors, but as cultural collaborators—leading performances, sharing perspectives, and producing bilingual art or media that celebrates their voice.
